Classy Norwegian Restaurants

Background
Classy Norwegian Restaurants is a coffee table book, presenting 50 of Norway's best restaurants. It contains a presentation of the selected 50 restaurants situated in the biggest cities in Oslo. The publisher Young Rascal gave Skin the assignment to design cover, layout and illustrations for this publication. The design needed to reflect both the book's content, a modern look and a norwegian 'something'.

Challenge
To create an interesting and modern look, well suited for the many faceted content.

Solution
We proposed to create a modern, yet retro look, picking up details for reference to both the Norwegian cuisine, nature and way of life - as well as a classy environment, reflecting the presented restaurants exquisite cuisine. The vector illustrations are kept in a minimalistic colour scheme, giving good contrast and a sophisticated look. They are simple, yet detailed. The layout is strict, making it as easy as possible to use for the different content. The cover reflects the books content and differentiates itself from other books within the same genre.
