Lingua is a series of dictionaries for 4 languages, aimed at pupils aged 15-18 years. It contains a classic dictionary, short articles, topic lists and grammar. Kunnskapsforlaget asked us to re-design the series, in order to get it more contemporary and competitive on a large marked.
The dictionary market is mostly very conservative, communicating very non-emotional.
We proposed to create a minimalistic and modern look, based on a white background and the use of coloured text, reduced to the basic information needed. This way, we kept it within the non-emotional manner of the segment, but moved it into a modern, no-nonsense and different look.
